One of the most researched of all medicinal mushrooms, Turkey Tail - also known as Trametes versicolor or Coriolus versicolor, is in a class of its own. It is found growing on dead hardwood trees throughout the world and its distinctive layered stripes of brown, tan, grey, and white, is where this amazing mushroom gains its name.

In many Asian cultures, Turkey Tail symbolises longevity and health, spiritual attunement, and infinity. It has been used for centuries by practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine, with the earliest records of use dating back to around 200BCE. Traditionally it had been brewed into a soothing tea to increase energy, and strengthen the lungs, stomach, and spleen. Turkey Tail mushrooms are high in the polysaccharides PSK and PSP - both types of beta-glucans. It is these compounds that are thought to be responsible for Turkey Tail's amazing immune boosting properties – improving the ability of the immune system’s natural defence cells works to protect the body against illness. It is especially effective against the types of viruses responsible for causing colds and flu.

Turkey Tail also features a broad array of naturally occurring compounds that help to improve stamina and support gut health. It is packed with antioxidants, including powerful flavonoids and more than 35 phenols. They promote immune system health by helping to manage inflammation and by stimulating the release of immune-supportive compounds. Turkey Tail mushroom also contains prebiotics, which nurture the good bacteria in the gut. It’s ability to improve digestion leads to better absorption of nutrients, improving the effects of a healthier diet leading to increased energy, vitality, and health.
